Mooresville, NC is also known as Race City USA! There’s a good reason as to why they achieved that nickname. Home to multiple race teams, racecar drivers, racing part suppliers, and the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame and Memory Lane Motorsports Museum.

Also while in Mooresville you can really get your speed on at the Mooresville Dragway. Home to a 1/8th mile dragstrip they feature multiple events throughout the year. If you’re a fan karting and road racing you need to check out GoPro Motorplex! They feature an outdoor, 0.7-mile, 11-turn karting facility open to the public seven days a week, year-round with adult rental karts that reach up to 55mph! Drive down Interstate 77 to Huntersville, NC where you can stop by Joe Gibbs Racing. If you get there early enough sometimes you’ll end up running into Coach Gibbs. (I’ve ended up running into him twice while visiting.) After checking out Joe Gibbs Racing you can head up the road to Red Rocks Cafe in Birkdale Village in Huntersville. You can order dishes named after drivers, crew members, and tv announcers associated with NASCAR. Items you can expect are Steve Letarte’s Pittsburgh Salad, Denny Hamlin’s Prime Filet, Joey Logano’s Chicken Quattro Formaggio, and much more.

As you can tell, the Lake Norman area is perfect for those who love motorsports. From Drag Racing, Road Racing, NASCAR, and more there’s something for those who love speed and all forms of motorsports.
