About Cornelius

Cornelius is a lakeside town located along the east side of Lake Norman and North of Charlotte. Established in 1905, as a cotton mill and farm community it has become the epicenter of Lake Norman. Once the creation of Lake Norman happened in 1963, Cornelius received approximately 70 miles of lakeside property. Lastly, Lake Norman has been as influential to the development of the town as was the cotton in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

Located in Cornelius are two lakeside parks, they are Jetton Park and Ramsey Creek Park. Looking to eat along the lake? You can always dock your boat or drive to Port City Club and Hello Sailor for some delicious food! While walking through downtown, you will find plenty of shopping opportunities from locally owned gift and antique shops, to various consignment stores. In addition to shopping, Cornelius is becoming the center for the arts in the Lake Norman. Coming soon in the center of downtown will be a massive arts center where it will provide visual arts, performing arts and social experiences. If you’re wanting to go golfing, The Peninsula Club features a golf course along the Lake Norman shoreline as well.
